The 4th private operating session was held on January 11(Sun.), 2004 at the Tower
Hall of Edogawa Ward in front of Funabori station, Tokyo Toei Subway Shinjuku Line.
It was also only one room that we used this time, and we used half for a T-Trak
double-track oval layout, single-track point-to-point automatic operation, and a
single-track dog-bone-shaped layout, and the rest for HO and N scale double-
track mainline oval layout, which turned out to be a dense arrangement.
Two balloon loop modules were carried in for a dog-bone-shaped endless layout.
They have S-shaped curves with 120mm radius, through which some 2-axle trains
had difficulties in passing. However, they can be used for endless operation with no
wider space and, therefore, will be utilized for exhibition operation and the like.
Automatic shuttle operation was, also this time, performed on single-track modules.
As the shuttle control devise detects vehicles by the module, despite adjustment,
we saw some vehicles overran or stopped a little short of the designated point. Still
having no problems in general use, it proved to be a useful gadget for realistic
operation.

Some newly built full scratch vehicles such as Toden type 5500, Nagoya city tram
type 1400 appeared this time. Together with other vehicles carried in that day, almost
all of them were well maintained and running smoothly.
Many HO scale models such as European vehicles, Yokohama trams, various types
of small cars, N scale series Moha 31(assembly of a supplement of a model magazine)
and other vehicles were carried in.
As for blind package products, such as the second release of the "Bus Collections",
"My Home Town" and "B-train Shorty", many members also gathered with
their stocks this time, exchanging them with each other respectively. Moreover,
together with their libraries, many drawings of vehicles were brought in, which
inspired many of us with new works.
This was also an easygoing meeting. Now it is the 4th meeting at this place, so we
became accustomed to advance preparation such as maintenance of modules and
vehicles, conveyance and installment on the day, which gradually led to fewer troubles. At the 3rd and this time we didn't use the ATS (Automatic Train Stop) devise, which
contributed smoother installment. We often use the ATS devise at big events such as the JAM Convention. Not having
been practicing it, we feel a little uneasy. But we would like to keep modules and
vehicles in good condition.
In addition, it will be of much use in many cases that we have been able to adopt
various methods of operation such as a single-track shuttle together with a simple
double-track oval. We appreciate the efforts of all participants.
